I was born in 1994, meaning that I am part of the Generation Y or "The Millenials."

I think that my generation could be considered the "technology" generation as of right now. There are so many different things coming out every month, such as the iPhone 5. Even going back a little into the late 1990's when the first cell phones came out. I remember my mom's first cell phone, it was one that had to be plugged into the cigarette lighter in the car. Now you can get your e-mail and internet on your phone. The rate of technology growth is rapidly increasing. There is so much more diversity and globalization that it makes it easier to talk to someone in China or communicate without being hostile. Although there is still ehnocentrism, I think that it has gotten a lot better than it was in previous generations. I think that our generation is the most accepting of sexuality and race than previous generations. The increase in technology and communication leads to different styles and beliefs in raising children. Everyone has their own beliefs and values and that of course will always change between people. Not only does the generation that someone grows up in as well as where they grow up can influence their beliefs and values. I have noticed that people that grow up in the city versus people that grow up in the country have very different values and even priorities. I think your values are based upon your parents as well as how you view the world and the people in it.

If you can value yourself, than you can value others as well. If you can value other's talents then it can make life easier, especially in our fast-paced, diverse world.
