Nonverbal communication designates all the kinds of human messafges and responses not expressed in words. Even when someone is not talking, they are communicating somehow.
In this Hanes commercial, Cuba Gooding can't believe how soft Michael Jordan's shirt is. The company is trying to put an emphasis on how soft and comfortable the shirts are. So, of course they use famous people to represent the company in order to make an impact on people's decision of what brand to buy. This certain commercial was targeted towards men, that is why they had Michael Jordan and Cuba Gooding in it. They did this also to prove to men that even big, athletic males can and should wear Hanes. Some of the nonverbal cues such as facial expression and posture/body position were used. Cuba Gooding acts like he is hearing everything and looks around, but he actually doesn't and that is proven once he gets into the room with Michael and he runs up to him and hugs him. Michael's facial expression when Cuba hugs him is saying that he wants Cuba to get off of him. Hanes is trying to make the viewer want to buy their shirts because they are soft and comfortable and Michael Jordan wears them, so why shouldn't you? The company especially pays attention to making sure that you know the shirts are comfortable, so that you will want to buy them. Hanes also makes sure to have Michael and Cuba dressed nicely and cleanly shaven to put off a clean cut look.
There are so many different ways to express yourself, whether its written commnication, verbal communication, or nonverbal communication. Sometimes we are saying something with our eyes, posture, body language, of facial expression without even knowing that we are.
